Bio

 

Originally from Genova, IT, Virginia started her studies in theatre and dance with Enrico Bonavera and Diabasis Ballet Company. She moved to London to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and LCDS. During her studies she was selected to take part in Improvisation festivals and performances under the direction of Gill Clarke, Lizzie Kew Ross and Mestre Ponciano Almeida (London City Festival). She toured Rosemary Butcher’s 15 Happenings in 3 parts and was apprentice dancer of Trisha Brown Company during Dance Umbrella 2010. She was an original member of the London Soundpainting Orchestra founded by Diego Ghymers, with which she performed in some iconic London venues such as The Shunt, The Southbank Centre, Blackheath Hall and the London Colliseum.

As a freelance dancer and performer she currently works for Protein Dance and balletLorent. Recent credits include: Leah Hausman & Simon McBurney, Eoin Lynch, Fuora Dance Project, Jorge Crecis, C.ie Eco, Paolo Mangiola, Anders Duckworth, David Zambrano, Adam James, Susan Sentler, Martin Constantine, Altered Skin Dance Company and BBC educational channel amongst others.

She is associate artist of The Mostly Everything People, a free thinking dance theatre company directed by Jenni Fletcher and Christopher Preece. She was movement director for Opera Viscera run at the Vaults Festival (London), artist in residency at OT301 (Amsterdam), Inteatro- Marcheteatro (IT), Teatro Carlo Felice (IT), Dance Base Edinburgh, Yorkshire Dance, Dance City Newcastle, Tripspace Projects London and Pavilion Dance.

Her choreographic work has been shown at Edinburgh Dance Base, Dance City, Ugly Duck (London), Tripspace as part of Trip the Light Intercontinental Drifts, Old Theatre Market Brighton as part of Swallowsfeet Festival, Inteatro Festival, The Place, The Vaults Festival, OT301 (AM), Bonnie Bird Theatre, Dom Theatre Bologna. Her first solo work SPUTI was winner of IFA 2014.
